Endometriosis Mouse Model

An endometriosis mouse model is a laboratory system used to reproduce key features of endometriosis, a condition in which endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus, enabling controlled investigation of its causes and progression. Researchers typically introduce endometrial tissue or cells into female mice, where the material can establish ectopic lesions and trigger local inflammation, immune responses, angiogenesis, and pain-related changes. These models help evaluate disease mechanisms, characterize interactions between lesions and surrounding tissues, and test potential hormonal, anti-inflammatory, or surgical treatments. By linking cellular processes with measurable outcomes, they support preclinical research and the development of more effective therapies for endometriosis.

Here, we present a protocol for live-imaging of fluorescently labeled human endometrial fragments grafted in mice. The method allows studying the effects of drugs of choice on endometriotic lesion size through monitoring and quantification of fluorescence emitted by the fluorescent reporter on real...

Intraoperative Detection of Subtle Endometriosis: A Novel Paradigm for Detection and Treatment of Pelvic Pain Associated with the Loss of Peritoneal Integrity

Many rodent models of endometriosis are limited by technical complexity, reproducibility, and/or need for immunocompromised animals or special reporter mice. We present a simplified system of lesion induction using any experimental mouse with an independently verifiable, objective scoring system and with no requirement for ovariectomy or survival surgery.

Mouse Models of Periventricular Leukomalacia

We established mouse models of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), the predominant brain injury in premature infants characterized by periventricular white matter lesions. Hypoxia/ischemia with/without systemic infection are the primary causes of PVL. Unilateral carotid ligation and hypoxia exposure with/without lipopolysaccharide injection creates PVL-like lesions in P6 mice.
