Primary Lung Cancer

Primary lung cancer is a malignant tumor that originates in the cells of the lung, distinguishing it from cancer that has spread to the lungs from another organ. It develops when genetic and epigenetic changes disrupt normal controls on cell growth, allowing abnormal cells to proliferate, invade surrounding tissue, and potentially metastasize through lymphatic or blood vessels. Clinical evaluation combines imaging, tissue biopsy, histopathology, and molecular profiling to identify the cancer subtype and stage. These findings guide decisions about surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy, while supporting research into earlier detection, treatment resistance, and improved patient outcomes.

2026

Here we present thoracoscopic extended sleeve lobectomy, an applicable procedure for patients with centrally located non-small-cell lung cancer that exceeds an anatomic lobe and improves the probability of complete resection while preserving respiratory capacity.

Primary Tumor and MEF Cell Isolation to Study Lung Metastasis

The goal of this protocol is to study breast tumorigenesis. With this technique, mouse mammary tumors are removed and primary cells are prepared from tumors. A lung extraction protocol is included for studying lung metastasis. Furthermore, another protocol for analyzing mouse embryonic fibroblasts from the mouse embryo is included.
