Standardized Test Procedure

A standardized test procedure is a predefined method for conducting and interpreting a medical test so that results are generated consistently across patients, operators, and settings. It specifies the required materials, patient preparation, sequence of steps, measurement conditions, quality controls, and scoring or reporting rules; uniform administration reduces variability and supports reproducible comparisons. In medicine, standardized procedures strengthen diagnostic evaluation, treatment monitoring, and research by improving the reliability and comparability of findings. They also help laboratories and clinical teams identify deviations, assess test performance, and apply evidence consistently across institutions.
