Submucosal Tumor

A submucosal tumor is a mass arising beneath the surface mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, often leaving the overlying lining intact and creating a raised lesion that may resemble a polyp. These lesions can originate in the submucosa or deeper muscularis propria, and their appearance, growth pattern, and tissue type help distinguish benign tumors from potentially malignant disease. Endoscopy identifies the protrusion, while endoscopic ultrasound shows its wall layer, internal structure, and relationship to surrounding tissues; tissue sampling may support diagnosis. Accurate evaluation guides surveillance, endoscopic or surgical removal, and assessment of symptoms such as bleeding, obstruction, or abdominal discomfort.

Here we demonstrate our protocol for isolation of basal and submucosal gland duct cells from mouse tracheas. We also demonstrate the method of injecting stem cells into the dorsal mouse fat pad to create an in vivo model of submucosal gland regeneration.

This study reports a successful method of endoscopical adipose tissue-derived stromal cell (ADSC)-sheet transplantation for esophageal stricture prevention after an extended endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in a swine model.

Tumor Implantation and Injection of a Tumor Vaccine in a Mouse Model

This video demonstrates a cell-based tumor vaccination assay. A mouse, intradermally injected with B16-F10 melanoma cells for tumor formation, is vaccinated with B16-F10 cells secreting Flt3L cytokine near the developed tumor. The secreted Flt3L from the vaccine promotes the maturation and proliferation of dendritic cells that then present tumor antigens to T cells in lymph nodes, triggering a targeted anti-tumor immune response.

Lateral Molar Approach-Driven Transoral Endoscopic Procedure for Benign Infratemporal Fossa Tumor Resection

2025

Here, we present a protocol to resect benign infratemporal fossa tumors via an endoscopic-assisted transoral lateral molar approach with low-temperature plasma ablation and intraoperative mandibular nerve monitoring. This minimally invasive technique prioritizes anatomical preservation, functional recovery, and avoidance of external scarring, demonstrating feasibility for well-demarcated lesions ≤4 cm in diameter.
