Individualized Training

Individualized training is an approach that tailors instruction and behavior-change procedures to a learner’s specific skills, needs, preferences, and learning history, rather than applying identical methods to everyone. It typically begins with assessment and ongoing data collection, then adjusts goals, task difficulty, prompting, reinforcement, practice opportunities, and feedback according to the learner’s responses. In behavior science, this approach can improve skill acquisition, support communication and adaptive behavior, and increase the likelihood that learned responses generalize across people, settings, and tasks. Its emphasis on measurable outcomes also helps practitioners identify effective components and refine interventions over time.
