Stimulus Generation Protocol

A Stimulus Generation Protocol is a standardized procedure for creating, controlling, and presenting sensory or task-related stimuli in behavioral research, where consistent input is essential for interpreting participant or animal responses. It specifies stimulus properties such as modality, intensity, duration, timing, sequence, and delivery conditions, often coordinating software with experimental hardware to produce repeatable trials. Researchers use these protocols to investigate perception, learning, attention, memory, and decision-making while reducing unintended variation and improving experimental control. Reliable stimulus generation supports accurate response measurement, reproducibility across studies, and the development of rigorous behavioral models.

Inducing Axonal Varicosities with a Micromechanical Stimulus on Neurons

2025

This video demonstrates the induction of axonal varicosities by applying micromechanical stimulus on neurons. The system comprises a micropipette attached to a syringe containing buffer via tubing. Using a micromanipulator, the micropipette is positioned above the neurons. Fluid pressure is then applied to induce varicosities in axons.
