Fluorescent Dna

Fluorescent DNA is DNA labeled with fluorescent molecules or nucleotide analogs, allowing its location, sequence, or interactions to be monitored through emitted light. When a fluorophore absorbs excitation light, it enters an excited electronic state and releases part of that energy as longer-wavelength fluorescence; linking the label to a nucleotide or complementary probe connects the signal to a specific DNA molecule or sequence. In biochemistry, fluorescent DNA supports hybridization assays, nucleic acid quantification, electrophoresis, and fluorescence microscopy. These methods help researchers measure binding, track amplification, visualize DNA organization, and detect genetic targets with high sensitivity.

2025

This video describes high-performance fluorescence anisotropy that helps to monitor the interaction between transcription factors and DNA. The assay monitors the interactions of a fluorophore-labeled DNA molecule with its specific transcription factor by measuring the degree of polarization due to molecular rotation or anisotropy of the fluorophore-labeled DNA.
