Rehabilitation Progress Tracking

Rehabilitation progress tracking is the systematic measurement of changes in a person’s physical function, performance, and recovery over time, helping clinicians and engineers evaluate whether an intervention is effective. It combines repeated assessments, such as range of motion, strength, gait, task performance, and patient-reported outcomes, with objective measurements from motion-capture systems, force sensors, or wearable devices. Comparing these data across treatment sessions can reveal improvement, persistent limitations, and responses that require adjustment. In bioengineering, progress tracking supports the design and validation of assistive devices, robotic therapies, prostheses, and personalized rehabilitation programs while providing quantitative evidence for clinical decision-making.
