Antibody Staining Procedure

The antibody staining procedure is a laboratory method for detecting and locating specific proteins or other antigens in cells, tissues, or biological samples. It works by fixing the sample, blocking nonspecific binding sites, and applying a primary antibody that recognizes a target epitope; a labeled primary or secondary antibody then produces a fluorescent or enzymatic signal after washing away unbound molecules. Researchers use this technique to visualize protein localization, compare expression patterns, identify cell types, and investigate cellular structure and function. Depending on the sample and label, antibody staining supports fluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and related analyses in biology and biomedical research.
