Bilirubin Buildup

Bilirubin buildup is the accumulation of bilirubin, a yellow pigment produced when the body breaks down heme in red blood cells, and it matters because excessive levels can signal impaired waste processing or tissue injury. Normally, the liver converts unconjugated bilirubin into a water-soluble conjugated form and releases it into bile for excretion through the intestine. Hemolysis, liver dysfunction, or bile duct obstruction can disrupt this pathway, causing jaundice and potentially damaging the nervous system at very high concentrations. Studying bilirubin buildup helps biologists and clinicians evaluate liver function, diagnose disease, and guide monitoring of newborns and patients with blood or biliary disorders.

Laparoscopic Anatomic S7+S8d Resection Preserving Inferior Right Hepatic Vein and S6 with Right Hepatic Vein Transection

2025

We present a laparoscopic technique for anatomic S7+S8d resection with right hepatic vein transection, preserving the inferior right hepatic vein and segment S6. Relying on meticulous anatomical landmarks without intraoperative ultrasound, this approach offers a precise and parenchyma-sparing option for dorsally located right-liver tumors, particularly in settings with limited advanced navigation resources.

In this study, the use of an in situ loading device coupled with micro-X-ray computed tomography for fibrous joint biomechanics will be discussed. Experimental readouts identifiable with an overall change in joint biomechanics will include: 1) reactionary force vs. displacement, i.e. tooth displacement within the alveolar socket and its reactionary response to loading, 2) three-dimensional (3D) spatial configuration and morphometrics, i.e. geometric relationship of the tooth with the alveolar...
