Cell Lysate Extraction

Cell lysate extraction is the process of breaking open cells to release proteins, nucleic acids, metabolites, and other intracellular components for biological analysis. It typically combines mechanical or chemical disruption with a lysis buffer that maintains a suitable pH and ionic environment while helping protect target molecules from degradation; centrifugation or filtration can then separate soluble lysate from cellular debris. In biology, cell lysates support protein assays, enzyme activity measurements, immunoblotting, nucleic acid analysis, and studies of cellular pathways. The quality of extraction directly affects molecular recovery, sample purity, and the reliability of downstream experiments.
