Da Rat Model

The DA rat model is an inbred laboratory rat strain used to investigate disease mechanisms, immune responses, and therapeutic interventions in controlled biological studies. Its value comes from genetic uniformity and characteristic susceptibility to experimentally induced inflammation: researchers expose rats to defined antigens, adjuvants, or other stimuli, then monitor immune activation and tissue pathology over time. This model is especially useful for studying autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, including experimental disease systems that reproduce features of human conditions. Findings from DA rats can clarify genetic contributions to disease, support evaluation of candidate treatments, and guide research before clinical investigation.

ROS Detection with DCFH-DA Staining: Measuring Total ROS in Colorectal Cancer Cell Lines

2023

This video describes the protocol for detecting total cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA). This method helps visualize ROS localization in the adherent cells using a fluorescence microscope and further quantify ROS intensity with a fluorescence plate reader.

Creation of Reversible Cholestatic Rat Model

2011

Cholestasis is a clinical condition commonly encountered by both surgeons and gastroenterologists. Creation of a reversible cholestatic rat model can be challenging in view of the smaller size and unique hepatopancreatobiliary anatomy in rats. This video article demonstrates the creation of a reversible cholestatic model.

In the present protocol, a urethral stricture induction was developed in Wistar rats, followed by urethral reconstruction with a buccal mucosa graft. A retrograde urethrogram and laser Doppler assessment were performed, validating urethral reconstruction (after stricture formation) and graft placement.
