Electrochemical Stripping

Electrochemical stripping is an analytical method that detects and quantifies trace substances by first concentrating them at an electrode and then measuring their removal through a controlled electrochemical reaction. During the accumulation step, an applied potential deposits electroactive species onto the electrode surface; reversing or changing the potential subsequently oxidizes or reduces them, producing a current peak proportional to their concentration. In biology, electrochemical stripping supports sensitive measurements of metal ions and other electroactive analytes in cells, tissues, and biological fluids. Its preconcentration step improves detection of low-abundance targets, aiding studies of metal homeostasis, toxicity, and disease-related changes.

Sparks, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT Electrical resistance is the ability of an electrical circuit element to resist the flow of electricity. Resistance is defined by Ohm's Law: (Equation 1) Where is the voltage and is the current. Ohm's law is useful for determining the resistance of ideal resistors. However, many circuit elements are more complex and can't be described by...
