Femoral Triangle Anatomy

The femoral triangle is a clinically important anatomical region in the upper anterior thigh that provides a passageway for major nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatic structures between the pelvis and lower limb. Its borders are formed by the inguinal ligament superiorly, the sartorius muscle laterally, and the adductor longus muscle medially, while the iliopsoas and pectineus muscles contribute to its floor. Within this space, the femoral nerve, artery, vein, and lymphatics follow an organized arrangement, allowing examination of the femoral pulse and vascular access. Understanding femoral triangle anatomy supports physical examination, regional anesthesia, surgery, and assessment of femoral hernias.

Central Venous Catheter Insertion: Femoral Vein

2023

Source: James W Bonz, MD, Emergency Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, USA Central venous access is necessary in a multitude of clinical situations, including vascular access, vasopressor and caustic medication delivery, central venous pressure monitoring, volume resuscitation, total parental nutrition, hemodialysis, and frequent phlebotomy. There are three veins in the body that are accessed for central venous cannulation: the internal jugular, the subclavian, and the...

Trigonometry of Right Triangles

2025

In a right triangle, trigonometric functions establish specific ratios that describe the relationship between the lengths of the triangle's sides and its acute angles. These relationships are foundational in understanding the structure of right-angled geometry. The sine function quantifies the proportion of the side opposite a given angle compared to the triangle's hypotenuse. In contrast, the cosine function expresses how the side adjacent to the angle relates to the hypotenuse in terms of...

This protocol describes a procedure for serial sampling of femoral bone marrow (BM) without requiring the sacrifice of mice. This procedure facilitates longitudinal studies of the BM composition of mice over time and provides serial access to cells within the BM for ex vivo and transplantation studies.

Binomial Expansion Using Pascal's Triangle

2025

Expanding a binomial expression such as (a + b)n results in a predictable sequence of terms that can be systematically derived using Pascal’s Triangle. This triangular array of numbers plays a central role in understanding and computing the coefficients of binomial expansions.Pascal’s Triangle is constructed such that each row corresponds to the coefficients of a binomial raised to a power. The topmost row, known as the zeroth row, corresponds to (a + b)0, and each successive row gives the...
