Tumor Nodules

Tumor nodules are localized, often rounded masses of abnormal tissue produced by the uncontrolled proliferation of cells, and they provide an important model for studying tumor growth in biology. As transformed cells divide and accumulate, they interact with surrounding extracellular matrix, stromal cells, and blood vessels, creating a structured microenvironment that can support expansion and, in some cases, invasion. Researchers examine tumor nodules in tissue samples, animal models, and three-dimensional cell cultures to assess cellular behavior, vascularization, treatment responses, and disease progression. Their size, organization, and molecular features can reveal how tumors develop and help evaluate potential anticancer therapies.
