Glissonean Pedicle

The Glissonean pedicle is a connective-tissue sheath in the liver that encloses the portal vein, hepatic artery, and bile duct branches supplying a defined liver segment or sector. During surgery, surgeons isolate and temporarily clamp or ligate a selected pedicle, reducing inflow to its territory and creating an ischemic demarcation line that guides anatomical resection. This approach is particularly valuable in liver cancer research and surgery, where precise removal of tumor-bearing tissue can preserve functional parenchyma and help control blood loss. Understanding Glissonean anatomy also supports studies of segmental tumor spread, surgical planning, and outcomes after hepatectomy.

Coronoid-Temporalis Pedicled Flap for Orbital Floor Defect Reconstruction

2025

This protocol presents a novel coronoid-temporalis pedicled flap (CTPF) technique for reconstructing small-to-medium orbital floor defects. CTPF avoids microvascular risks while maintaining biomechanical stability. Clinical cases demonstrate effective structural restoration, reduced complications, and preserved facial symmetry, offering a viable alternative to traditional grafts or alloplastic materials.

2025

We present a laparoscopic technique for anatomic S7+S8d resection with right hepatic vein transection, preserving the inferior right hepatic vein and segment S6. Relying on meticulous anatomical landmarks without intraoperative ultrasound, this approach offers a precise and parenchyma-sparing option for dorsally located right-liver tumors, particularly in settings with limited advanced navigation resources.
