Glow Discharge Treatment

Glow discharge treatment is a plasma-based surface modification method that uses an ionized gas to alter the chemical and physical properties of materials, which is important for preparing reliable tools in cancer research. Under reduced pressure, an applied electrical field sustains a glow discharge that generates energetic ions, electrons, radicals, and other reactive species; their interaction with a surface can remove contaminants, introduce functional groups, and change wettability or surface energy. These effects improve the adhesion and uniformity of coatings, biomolecules, and cultured cancer cells on substrates used in microscopy, biosensors, microfluidics, and drug-testing platforms. By producing more consistent interfaces, the treatment supports reproducible experiments and advanced tumor-model development.

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. The Goeckerman regimen, formulated for the treatment of psoriasis, consists of exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) light and application of crude coal tar (CCT). The following protocol is for the administration of Goeckerman therapy for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.

RC Circuits: Discharging A Capacitor

2025

One of the applications of an RC circuit is the relaxation oscillator. The relaxation oscillator comprises a voltage source, a capacitor, a resistor, and a neon lamp. The lamp acts like an open circuit (infinite resistance) until the potential difference across the neon lamp reaches a specific voltage. At that voltage, the lamp acts like a short circuit (zero resistance), and the capacitor discharges through the neon lamp and produces light. Once the capacitor is fully discharged through the...
