Physics-informed Neural Operators

Physics-informed neural operators are machine-learning models that learn mappings between input and output functions while incorporating governing physical laws, offering a way to approximate complex engineering systems across many conditions. They combine neural operator architectures, which learn solution operators for differential equations, with physics-based constraints such as conservation laws, boundary conditions, and initial conditions, typically enforced during training through a specialized loss function. This approach can reduce reliance on costly numerical simulations and support fast prediction, parameter estimation, and inverse modeling in areas including fluid flow, heat transfer, and structural mechanics. It also provides a framework for integrating data with established physical knowledge.

2019

This study aims to develop a standard protocol of intra-operative neural monitoring of thyroid surgery in a porcine model. Here, we present a protocol to demonstrate general anesthesia, to compare different types of electrodes, and to investigate the electrophysiological characteristics of the normal and injured recurrent laryngeal nerves.

Informational connectivity measures the correspondence between time courses of multi-voxel information across different brain regions. Multi-voxel pattern discriminability time series are extracted from regions and compared, revealing networks that are not identified in a typical functional connectivity approach.

Characterization of the Sense of Agency over the Actions of Neural-machine Interface-operated Prostheses

Here we present a protocol which characterizes the sense of agency developed over the control of sensate virtual or robotic prosthetic hands. Psychophysical questionnaires are employed to capture the explicit experience of agency, and time interval estimates (intentional binding) are employed to implicitly measure the sense of agency.

Source: Jaideep S. Talwalkar, MD, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT The examination of the body is fundamental to the practice of medicine. Since the Roman Empire, physicians have described the connection between alterations in function of specific parts of the body and specific disease states and have sought to further scientific understanding to improve bedside diagnosis. However, in this modern age of increasing technology within medical diagnostics, it...
