Pre-emphasis Technique

The pre-emphasis technique is a signal-processing method that selectively amplifies higher-frequency components before transmission or recording to improve signal quality. It works by applying a frequency-dependent gain, often through a high-pass or shelving filter, so high-frequency content receives greater emphasis; a complementary de-emphasis filter later reduces those frequencies to restore the original spectral balance. This arrangement can improve the signal-to-noise ratio when a system is more vulnerable to high-frequency noise, interference, or distortion. Engineers use pre-emphasis and de-emphasis in FM broadcasting, audio recording, telecommunications, and other communication systems to support clearer signal recovery.

We propose a method to extend the corresponding frequency by using a pre-emphasis technique. This method compensates for the gain reduction of a galvanometer mirror in sine-wave path tracking using proportional-integral-differential control.

pre-mRNA Processing

2019

In eukaryotic cells, transcripts made by RNA polymerase are modified and processed before exiting the nucleus. Unprocessed RNA is called precursor mRNA or pre-mRNA to distinguish it from mature mRNA. Once about 20-40 ribonucleotides have been joined together by RNA polymerase, a group of enzymes adds a “cap” to the 5’ end of the growing transcript. In this process, a 5’ phosphate is replaced by modified guanosine that has a methyl group attached to it (7-Methyl guanosine). This 5’ cap helps the...

Once about 20-40 ribonucleotides have been joined together by RNA polymerase, a group of enzymes adds a cap to the 5' end of the growing transcript. In this process, a 5' phosphate is replaced by modified guanosine that has a methyl group attached (7-methyl guanosine). This 5' cap helps the cell...
