Anti-fitc Microbeads

Anti-FITC microbeads are antibody-coated particles that bind fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), enabling researchers to isolate or manipulate FITC-labeled cells and other biological targets. Their anti-FITC antibodies recognize the fluorescein groups attached to primary antibodies or probes, forming a magnetic complex that can be retained in a magnetic field, commonly within a separation column. In immunology and infection research, this indirect labeling strategy supports positive selection, depletion, and enrichment of defined cell populations after immunostaining. The approach links fluorescence-based labeling with magnetic cell separation, improving workflow flexibility for immune-cell profiling, pathogen-associated studies, and downstream functional or molecular analyses.

Studying the Permeation of FITC and FITC-Ferritin through an In Vitro Blood-Brain Barrier Model

2025

This video demonstrates a method to study permeation through an in vitro blood-brain barrier (BBB) model using astrocytes and endothelial cells on a membrane insert, with free FITC and FITC-loaded ferritin. FITC-ferritin bound to receptors on endothelial cells and crossed the membrane barrier to the lower chamber while free FITC showed restricted permeation and remained in the upper chamber.

2015

The zebrafish is an excellent model system for genetic and developmental studies. Bead implantation is a valuable tissue manipulation technique that can be used to interrogate developmental mechanisms by introducing alterations in local cellular environments. This protocol describes how to perform microbead implantation in the zebrafish embryo.

FITC-Dextran Feeding: A Method to Quantify Intestinal Permeability in C. elegans

2023

This video introduces a method of to visualize and measure the integrity of the C. elegans intestine lumen by feeding worms FITC-labeled dextran. The example protocol shows the assay done with 3,3’-diindolylmethane (DIM)-treated and pathogen-fed worms.

Fabrication of Amyloid-Beta-Releasing Polymer Microbeads for Modeling Alzheimer's Disease

2025

This video demonstrates a method for fabricating polymer microbeads that encapsulate neurotoxic amyloid-beta-secreting cells. The cell-polymer suspension is processed through a microbead fabrication device, with polymer gelation achieved via calcium cross-linking, forming spherical microbeads around the cells. The polymer allows cell proliferation while allowing controlled, long-term amyloid-beta release, simulating its accumulation in Alzheimer's disease.
