Nanoemulsion Vaccine

A nanoemulsion vaccine is an immunization formulation that combines an antigen with nanoscale oil-and-water droplets to improve delivery and stimulate protective immunity. The droplets can protect or carry antigen, enhance its uptake by antigen-presenting cells, and activate innate immune signaling that supports stronger B- and T-cell responses. In immunology and infection research, nanoemulsions are investigated as vaccine adjuvants and delivery systems for pathogens that require durable, targeted immunity. Their tunable composition and physical stability may support needle-based or mucosal vaccination, while studies of safety, biodistribution, and immune response guide their development for infectious disease prevention.

Vaccinations

2019

Overview Vaccination is the administration of antigenic material from pathogens to confer immunity against a specific microorganism. Vaccination primes the immune system to recognize and mount an immune response faster and more effectively if the real pathogen is encountered. Vaccinations are one of the most efficient ways to protect both individual humans and the general public from disease. A growing anti-vaccination skepticism risks the successes of vaccination programs that helped reduce...
