Computerized Tomography

Computerized tomography (CT) is a medical imaging technique that uses X-rays and computer processing to produce detailed cross-sectional views of the body, improving visualization beyond conventional radiographs. During a scan, an X-ray source and detectors rotate around the patient, measuring how tissues attenuate the beam from multiple angles; reconstruction algorithms combine these measurements into slice-based images and three-dimensional representations. CT supports rapid assessment of trauma, tumors, vascular disease, infection, and internal bleeding, while contrast agents can enhance differences between tissues. Its ability to provide high-resolution anatomical information makes it valuable for diagnosis, treatment planning, image-guided procedures, and monitoring disease.

Individuals with intermittent claudication exhibit poor balance compared to healthy controls. Computerized dynamic posturography is an objective method for measuring an individual's postural responses to balance disturbances. This provides an objective reflection of the person’s ability to respond to situations under which sensory stimuli are altered and unexpected perturbations occur.

Diffuse fluorescence tomography offers a relatively low-cost and potentially high-throughout approach to preclinical in vivo tumor imaging. The methodology of optical data collection, calibration, and image reconstruction is presented for a computed tomography-guided non-contact time-domain system using fluorescent targeting of the tumor biomarker epidermal growth factor receptor in a mouse glioma model.

Here, we present a protocol to develop the computerized adaptive testing system of the functional assessment of stroke (CAT-FAS). The CAT-FAS can simultaneously assess four functions (two motor functions [upper and lower extremities], postural control, and basic activities of daily living) with sufficient reliability and administrative efficiency.
