Infusion Rate Control

Infusion rate control is the regulation of how quickly intravenous fluids, medications, nutrients, or blood products enter a patient’s circulation, helping achieve intended treatment effects while reducing the risk of underdelivery, toxicity, or fluid overload. Clinicians set and monitor flow using infusion pumps, gravity-driven systems, or electronic controllers that adjust volume over time, with the prescribed rate determined by the solution, dose, patient condition, and treatment goals. In medicine, accurate rate control supports continuous drug administration, hydration, anesthesia, and critical care, while alarms and ongoing assessment help identify interruptions, occlusions, or changes in patient response.

Controlled Infusion of Aβ Peptide-Specific Antibodies and Aβ Oligomers into the Rat Hippocampus

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for the continuous infusion of amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptide-specific antibodies into the hippocampus of a rat. The study employs implanting a bilateral cannula system for a controlled infusion of Aβ peptide-specific antibodies coupled with the infusion of soluble Aβ oligomers (Aβo) into the rat hippocampus to study the interactions between the oligomers and the antibodies.
