Papillary Mucosa Traction

Papillary mucosa traction is an endoscopic technique that applies controlled pulling force to mucosal tissue around the papilla, improving access to lesions in a confined anatomical space. Traction is typically created with an endoscopic clip, snare, or clip-and-line system, which lifts and tensions the mucosa to clarify the dissection plane while reducing tissue collapse into the instrument field. In medicine, this approach can support endoscopic papillectomy and related resections by improving visualization, lesion handling, and the likelihood of controlled tissue removal. It may also help standardize technically demanding procedures and reduce unnecessary manipulation of adjacent structures.

This protocol presents robotic duodenum-preserving total pancreatic head resection (R-DPPHRt) for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). A video demonstrates the technique in a patient with main duct-IPMN, highlighting its feasibility as a minimally invasive, organ-preserving alternative to pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Traction Cytometry Assay: A Method to Quantify Traction Force Exerted by Cancer Cells on ECM

This video describes the traction force microscopy assay. The assay determines the cellular traction of human colon cancer cells on the extracellular matrix present on soft elastic hydrogel having embedded fluorescent beads. The resultant displacement of fluorescent beads is measured using an appropriate software.

In the present protocol, a urethral stricture induction was developed in Wistar rats, followed by urethral reconstruction with a buccal mucosa graft. A retrograde urethrogram and laser Doppler assessment were performed, validating urethral reconstruction (after stricture formation) and graft placement.

Papillary Dermis

Dermis The dermis might be considered the "core" of the integumentary system, as distinct from the epidermis and hypodermis. It contains blood and lymph vessels, nerves, and other structures, such as hair follicles and sweat glands. The dermis is made of two layers of connective tissue that comprise an interconnected mesh of elastin and collagenous fibers, produced by fibroblasts. Papillary Layer The papillary layer is made of loose, areolar connective tissue, which means the collagen and...
