Suction Ureteral Access

Suction ureteral access is an endourologic technique that combines ureteroscopic treatment with controlled suction to improve access, visualization, and fluid management within the upper urinary tract. During ureteroscopy, a suction-enabled access sheath or catheter applies negative pressure to evacuate irrigation fluid, blood, and stone fragments while maintaining continuous inflow for visualization; this can also help limit intrarenal pressure. The technique is primarily used in kidney stone procedures, including laser lithotripsy, where it may improve fragment clearance and procedural efficiency. By supporting a clearer operative field and more controlled drainage, suction ureteral access may enhance the safety and effectiveness of minimally invasive urinary tract surgery.

The murine model of irreversible unilateral ureteric obstruction (UUO) is presented together with the model of reversible UUO in which the ureteric obstruction is relieved by anastomosis of the severed ureter into the bladder. These models enable the study of renal inflammation and scarring as well as tissue remodeling.

2025

In preparing for oropharyngeal airway suctioning, a nurse must gather all necessary equipment, including a suction unit with tubing, a prepackaged suction kit, sterile gloves, water or saline for irrigation, a water-soluble lubricant, and additional personal protective equipment (such as a gown, mask, and goggles) to control infections. After assembling the equipment, the nurse should practice hand hygiene and don appropriate PPE according to infection control guidelines to avoid the...

Nasopharyngeal suctioning is a procedure to remove secretions from the upper part of the respiratory tract that the patient cannot clear independently. It helps maintain airway patency and prevents complications such as aspiration pneumonia. Equipment Required Suction machine with adjustable pressure settings Sterile suction catheters (appropriate size for the patient) Sterile gloves Sterile saline or water (for irrigation or lubrication) Water-soluble lubricant Personal protective...

Tracheostomy suctioning is a vital nursing procedure that involves removing secretions from the tracheostomy tube to maintain airway patency and prevent respiratory complications. Nurses need to understand the proper technique for tracheostomy suctioning to ensure patient safety and comfort. In this guide, we will outline the step-by-step process for performing tracheostomy suctioning, including preparing the sterile field, donning personal protective equipment (PPE), lubricating and connecting...
