Ventral Dural Sac

The ventral dural sac is the anterior portion of the spinal dural sac, a protective membrane that encloses the spinal cord, cauda equina, and cerebrospinal fluid within the vertebral canal. Formed primarily by dura mater, it lies adjacent to the posterior vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs, creating an important anatomical boundary between spinal neural structures and the anterior epidural space. In medicine, its position is central to interpreting spinal imaging and planning procedures such as decompression, disc surgery, and intradural interventions. Injury to the ventral dural sac can produce cerebrospinal fluid leakage and requires careful recognition during diagnosis and treatment.

This video shows how to micro-dissect the yolk sac and aorta-gonad-mesonephros region from embryos and use flow cytometry to sort hematopoietic stem cells.

Co-culturing of Ventral Hippocampal and Nucleus Accumbens

This video demonstrates the process of preparing ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues from mouse brains for co-culture. Neurons extend projections to form synaptic connections between the ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues. This method allows studying neuronal interactions between these two brain regions, offering insights into cognition, behavior, and neurological disorders.

Dissection of the Endolymphatic Sac from Mice

2021

This study describes how to dissect the endolymphatic sac from the inner ear of the mouse at different ages. The result of a similar dissection is shown in an Slc26a4-null mouse model of enlargement of the endolymphatic sac. A transgenic mouse with a fluorescent reporter expressed in the endolymphatic sac is presented as a model to readily visualize the endolymphatic sac, and educational tool.
