Cornrow Braiding

Cornrow braiding is a hairstyling technique in which hair is divided into narrow sections and braided in continuous rows close to the scalp, creating structured patterns that can protect and organize the hair. The process relies on repeated finger movements, controlled tension, visual monitoring, and tactile feedback as three strands are crossed and new hair is progressively incorporated into the braid. In neuroscience, this everyday skill provides an accessible context for discussing procedural learning, sensorimotor coordination, attention, and the formation of motor habits. Its cultural and practical significance also illustrates how skilled action integrates perception, movement, memory, and individual expression.

Here, we introduce a novel approach-Laparoscopic Extracorporeal Knot-Tying for Uterine Vessel Occlusion during Hysterectomy with Cervical Cerclage in Large Uteri. A laparoscopic extracorporeal knot-pusher is used to perform cervical cerclage, achieving complete occlusion of uterine arteries. Thereafter, the corpus uteri are excised to enhance visibility and facilitate the operative field.

Traditional modeling of partial bladder outlet obstruction in rodents is fraught with animal mortality. A denervation injury from dissection around the proximal urethra and bladder neck is also of major concern. We developed and evaluated a safe and reliable mid-urethral obstruction model, avoiding the shortcomings of the traditional model.
