Xenium Spatial Sequencing

Xenium Spatial Sequencing is a high-resolution in situ transcriptomics technology that measures gene expression while preserving the location of RNA molecules within intact tissue, making it valuable for linking molecular identity to anatomy. In tissue sections, target-specific probe sets bind RNA transcripts, generate amplified fluorescent signals, and undergo iterative imaging and computational decoding to assign transcripts to individual cells and spatial coordinates. In neuroscience, this approach maps neuronal and glial cell types, gene expression patterns, and cellular neighborhoods across brain regions. It supports studies of neural circuits, development, neurodegeneration, and disease-associated changes while retaining the tissue context that conventional sequencing can lose.

Spatial Cueing

2023

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Attention refers to the limited human ability to select some information for processing at the expense of other stimuli in the environment. Attention operates in all sensory modalities: vision, hearing, touch, even taste and smell. It is most often studied in the visual domain though. A common way to study visual attention is with a spatial cueing paradigm. This paradigm allows researchers to measure the consequences of focusing...

Cis-regulatory Sequences

2020

Cis-regulatory sequences are short fragments of non-coding DNA that are present on the same chromosomes as the genes that they regulate. These fragments serve as binding sites for transcriptional regulators, proteins that are responsible for controlling gene transcription and differential gene expression across cell types in eukaryotes. Cis-regulatory sequences can be close to the gene of interest or thousands of bases away in the DNA sequence; however, those sequences that are further away are...

Spatial Separation of Molecular Conformers and Clusters

We present a technique that allows the spatial separation of different conformers or clusters present in a molecular beam. An electrostatic deflector is used to separate species by their mass-to-dipole moment ratio, leading to the production of gas-phase ensembles of a single conformer or cluster stoichiometry.
