Men Over 60

Men over 60 are adults in later life whose psychological experiences reflect aging, personal history, health, and changing social roles. During this stage, cognitive and emotional adaptation develops through interactions among retirement, physical changes, identity, relationships, and perceived purpose; these factors can influence motivation, coping, and mental wellbeing. Psychology research on men over 60 examines resilience, loneliness, memory, depression, caregiving, and adjustment to major life transitions. This knowledge supports age-sensitive assessment, counseling, community programs, and interventions that strengthen social connection, autonomy, and quality of life while recognizing the diverse experiences of older men.
