Interventional Mri Guidance

Interventional MRI guidance is the use of magnetic resonance imaging to plan, navigate, monitor, and assess minimally invasive procedures while they are being performed. It generates detailed soft-tissue images without ionizing radiation, and rapid image updates can show anatomy, target movement, and device position, enabling clinicians to adjust trajectories or treatment delivery in response to changing conditions. In bioengineering, this approach supports the design of MRI-compatible instruments, robotic systems, imaging sequences, and therapeutic platforms. Applications include biopsy, ablation, drug delivery, and targeted interventions, where improved visualization can enhance precision, procedural control, and evaluation of treatment effects.

This protocol describes a bioprinting methodology using an automated robotic depositing system that incorporates etched topographical guidance cues with the precision deposition of a cell bearing hydrogel bioink. The printed cells are directly delivered to the etched features and are able to sense and orientate with them.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Monitoring Animals for Signs of Pain and Distress Recognizing early signs of pain is essential for ethical animal research. Animals are routinely monitored using behavioral, physical, and physiological parameters that reflect...
