Piezoelectric Dispensing

Piezoelectric dispensing is a noncontact technique that deposits precise volumes of liquid by using electrically driven mechanical deformation, making it valuable for controlled fabrication and delivery in bioengineering. Applying a voltage to a piezoelectric actuator causes it to expand or contract, generating a pressure pulse that ejects a droplet through a nozzle; adjusting pulse shape, voltage, and fluid properties helps control droplet size and placement. The method supports patterned deposition of biomaterials, cells, proteins, and other biological reagents while minimizing material waste. Its precision contributes to tissue engineering, diagnostic devices, biosensors, and microscale biological experimentation.
