Dark Incubation

Dark incubation is a biological technique in which cells, tissues, organisms, or reaction mixtures are maintained without light for a defined period, often to preserve experimental conditions or protect light-sensitive components. During dark incubation, shielding from illumination limits photochemical reactions, photodegradation, and light-driven biological responses while temperature, time, and other culture conditions remain controlled. This approach supports reproducible assays involving photosensitive reagents, fluorescent signals, microbial or cellular cultures, and processes whose outcomes could be altered by light. By separating light exposure from other experimental variables, dark incubation improves measurement reliability and helps researchers interpret biological responses more accurately.

Dark Triad and Person Perception

Person perception is influenced by both external behaviors and the observer’s internal characteristics, including personality traits. Individuals with dark personality traits, comprising psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and narcissism — collectively known as the dark triad – exhibit manipulative and exploitative tendencies in social contexts. These traits affect how they perceive others and how they are perceived. The Role of Dark Personality Traits in Person PerceptionBlack et al. (2014) explored...

Laboratory soil warming experiments usually employ two or more constant temperatures in multiple chambers. By presenting a sophisticated environmental chamber, we provide an accurate temperature control method to imitate the magnitude and amplitude of in situ soil temperature and improve the experimental design of soil incubation studies.
