Electroporation Plasmid Delivery

Electroporation plasmid delivery is a biological technique that introduces plasmid DNA into cells by using brief electrical pulses to temporarily increase membrane permeability. The electric field disrupts the lipid bilayer and forms transient pores through which negatively charged plasmid DNA can enter; after the pulse, the membrane reseals and cells may express the encoded gene. Researchers use this method for transient or stable genetic manipulation in cultured mammalian, bacterial, and other cell types, including applications in gene function studies, protein production, and biotechnology. Its efficiency depends on factors such as cell type, pulse conditions, DNA concentration, and post-treatment cell recovery.
