Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is a group of malignancies that arise when abnormal cells in the lung grow uncontrollably, disrupt normal tissue function, and potentially spread to other organs. It develops through genetic and epigenetic changes that alter pathways regulating cell division, survival, DNA repair, and interactions with the immune system, producing tumors with distinct histological and molecular features. Studying these mechanisms helps researchers classify disease, identify biomarkers, and understand how tumors invade, metastasize, or resist treatment. In biology and medicine, this knowledge supports risk reduction, earlier detection, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and more precise approaches to patient care.
