Tramp Prostate Tumor

The TRAMP prostate tumor model is a genetically engineered mouse system used to study the development and progression of prostate cancer in vivo. In TRAMP mice, the probasin promoter directs expression of SV40 large and small T antigens in prostate epithelial cells, disrupting tumor-suppressor pathways such as p53 and Rb and driving progression from prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia to invasive adenocarcinoma, with metastasis in advanced disease. This model supports investigation of prostate tumor biology, disease-stage changes, therapeutic responses, and cancer-associated molecular mechanisms, providing a controlled platform for preclinical research and evaluation of potential treatments.

2012

Quantitative Real Time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) is a rapid and sensitive method to investigate the expression levels of various microRNA (miRNA) molecules in tumor samples. Using this method expression of hundreds of different miRNA molecules can be amplified, quantified, and analyzed from the same cDNA template.

Generation of Prostate Cancer Patient Derived Xenograft Models from Circulating Tumor Cells

This manuscript details a method used to generate prostate cancer patient derived xenografts (PDXs) from circulating tumor cells (CTCs). The generation of PDX models from CTCs provides an alternative experimental model to study prostate cancer; the most commonly diagnosed tumor and a frequent cause of death from cancer in men.

Sampling Prostate Cancer Tissue for Biobanking: An MRI-guided Targeted Technique to Remove Biopsy Punches from Fresh Tumor Tissue

2023

This video demonstrates an MRI data-based technique to target specific tumor-containing regions in prostate tissue for sampling. The collected biopsy specimens can be either stored for biobanking purposes or used for subsequent downstream analysis.

Renal Capsule Tumor Xenografting: A Technique to Generate an Experimental Animal Model to Evaluate Prostate Carcinogenesis

2023

In this video, we demonstrate the implantation of human-derived prostate cancer tissue grafts into the renal capsule of an immunocompromised recipient mouse. This technique can be used to assess tumor progression and develop novel therapeutic strategies.

Individual Lobe Extraction from Prostate: A Technique to Harvest Individual Prostate Lobes from Mouse Prostate
