Personalized Medicine Diagnostics

Personalized medicine diagnostics use an individual’s biological information to guide disease detection, risk assessment, and treatment selection, making care more specific than one-size-fits-all approaches. In cancer research, tests analyze tumor or blood samples for genomic alterations, gene expression patterns, proteins, and other biomarkers that can reveal tumor subtypes, predict treatment response, or indicate resistance. These data support targeted therapy selection, patient stratification in clinical studies, and monitoring of disease progression or recurrence. By linking molecular characteristics with clinical outcomes, personalized medicine diagnostics can improve treatment precision and advance the development of more effective cancer therapies.

Combination Therapies and Personalized Medicine

2021

Combining two or more treatment methods increases the life span of cancer patients while reducing damage to vital organs or tissue from the overuse of a single treatment. Combination therapy also targets different cancer-inducing pathways, thus reducing the chances of developing resistance to treatment. The combination of the drug acetazolamide and sulforaphane is a good example of combination therapy to treat cancer. The cells in the interior of a large tumor often die due to the hypoxic and...
