Method Identifier Mapping

Method identifier mapping is the process of linking a chemical analysis method to a consistent identifier, such as a standardized method code, name, or database record, so researchers can recognize and retrieve the same procedure across systems. It works by comparing method metadata, including the analyte, sample preparation, separation or detection technique, instrument conditions, and version information, then resolving equivalent or related records. In chemistry, this mapping supports method cataloging, literature and database integration, regulatory traceability, and reproducible laboratory workflows by reducing ambiguity when methods are transferred, compared, validated, or reused.

Details are presented on how QTL mapping with a whole genome sequence based genetic map can be used to identify a drug resistance gene in Toxoplasma gondii and how this can be verified with the CRISPR/Cas9 system that efficiently edits a genomic target, in this case the drug resistance gene.

Motor Maps

2023

Source: Laboratories of Jonas T. Kaplan and Sarah I. Gimbel—University of Southern California One principle of brain organization is the topographic mapping of information. Especially in sensory and motor cortices, adjacent regions of the brain tend to represent information from adjacent parts of the body, resulting in maps of the body expressed on the surface of the brain. The primary sensory and motor maps in the brain surround a prominent sulcus known as the central sulcus. The cortex...

Fate Mapping

Fate mapping is a technique used to understand how embryonic cells divide, differentiate, and migrate during development. In classic fate mapping experiments, cells in different areas of an embryo are labeled with a chemical dye and then tracked to determine which tissues or structures they form. Technological improvements now allow for individual cells to be marked and traced throughout embryonic development and adulthood. This video reviews the concepts behind fate mapping, and then details a...

Coordinate Mapping of Hyolaryngeal Mechanics in Swallowing

Coordinate mapping is a method of documenting salient features of hyolaryngeal biomechanics in the pharyngeal phase of swallowing. This methodology uses image analysis software to record coordinates of anatomical landmarks. These coordinates are imported into an excel macro and translated into kinematic variables of interest useful in dysphagia research.
