Zirconia Nmr Rotors

Zirconia NMR rotors are small, high-strength sample containers used in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, where they enable rapid magic-angle spinning of powdered or otherwise rigid samples. During analysis, the rotor spins at approximately 54.74° relative to the magnetic field, averaging anisotropic interactions and narrowing resonances to improve spectral resolution. Zirconia provides mechanical durability, chemical resistance, and stability under the centrifugal forces generated at high spinning speeds. These rotors support studies of crystal structure, molecular dynamics, catalysts, ceramics, polymers, and other materials, helping chemists relate NMR spectra to composition, local bonding, and material performance.

Here we describe how to build a robust spring-transport mechanism for a spinning rotor gauge. This device securely immobilizes the rotor and keeps it under vacuum during transportation. We also describe packaging that minimizes the risk of damage during transport. Tests show our design works for typical shocks during transport.

A progressive colonization procedure is described to further assess its impact on the host hepatic metabolism. Colonization is monitored non invasively by evaluating the urinary excretion of microbial co-metabolites by NMR-based metabolic profiling while hepatic metabolism is assessed by High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning (HR MAS) NMR profiling of intact biopsy.

A simple and non-destructive technique that measures the average content of drug substances in formulated drug products containing fluorine using low-field fluorine-19 (19F) time-domain (TD) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is presented here. The technique can be applied to the development and manufacturing of drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.

2023

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Henrik Sundén – Chalmers University of Technology Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a vital analysis technique for organic chemists. With the help of NMR, the work in the organic lab has been facilitated tremendously. Not only can it provide information about the structure of a molecule but also determine the content and purity of a sample. Compared with other commonly encountered techniques for organic chemists — such as thermal analysis and mass...
