Morula Stage Transfer

Morula stage transfer is an assisted-reproduction technique in which a compacted early embryo is placed into the uterus, typically before it forms a blastocyst. During cleavage, repeated mitotic divisions produce roughly 16–32 cells; compaction increases cell-cell adhesion and creates a dense morula that continues developing in the uterine environment. In developmental biology, the approach connects embryo culture, preimplantation development, and the timing of uterine transfer, while allowing researchers and clinicians to evaluate whether embryos progress from cleavage-stage organization toward blastocyst formation and implantation. Comparing morula-stage with later transfers can clarify how developmental competence, culture conditions, and embryo-uterine synchrony influence reproductive outcomes.

The use of the masseteric nerve as donor nerve represents a single-stage alternative to the criterion standard two-stage procedure of cross-facial nerve grafting and free muscle transfer in facial paralysis. We provide a detailed description to safely perform this technique with a gracilis muscle transfer and discuss indications and limitations.

Minimally Invasive Embryo Transfer and Embryo Vitrification at the Optimal Embryo Stage in Rabbit Model

Assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) are in continuous evaluation to improve outcomes and reduce the associated risks. This manuscript describes a minimally invasive embryo transfer procedure with an efficient cryopreservation protocol that allows the use of rabbits as an ideal animal model of human reproduction.

Mating and Egg Staging: A Method to Generate Embryos and Sort Them by Developmental Stage

Due to the striking similarities of the life cycle and biology of rodent malaria parasites to human malaria parasites, rodent malaria models have become indispensable for malaria research. Herein, we standardized some of the most important techniques used in the phenotypic analysis of wild-type and transgenic rodent malaria species.

Stages of Sleep

2024

Sleep progresses through distinct stages, each characterized by specific brain wave patterns and physiological responses ranging from wakefulness to stages of non-rapid eye movement, known as non-REM, to rapid eye movement, referred to as REM. Understanding these stages helps in recognizing how sleep supports various bodily and cognitive functions. Before sleep begins, in wakefulness, the brain exhibits primarily beta waves, which are high in frequency and low in amplitude, indicating alertness...
