Dry Process Fabrication

Dry process fabrication is a manufacturing approach that forms, patterns, or modifies materials without relying on liquid-phase processing, making it important for precise and resource-efficient engineering. Depending on the material and device, it can use vapor deposition, thermal treatment, plasma etching, or mechanical removal to build structures or transfer patterns under controlled conditions. These processes support the production of thin films, microelectronic components, sensors, and other engineered systems, while reducing solvent use and enabling fine control of surface chemistry, layer thickness, and feature dimensions. Dry fabrication is therefore central to advanced materials processing and micro- and nanoscale manufacturing.

2017

An experimental method to measure geometrical parameters and the apparent advancing contact angles describing capillary wicking in unidirectional synthetic and natural fabrics is proposed. These parameters are mandatory for the determination of the capillary pressures that must be taken into account for liquid composite molding (LCM) applications.

The preparing and processing of dried blood spots (DBS) for their final analysis are still poorly standardized for most diagnostic applications. To overcome this shortcoming, a comprehensive step-by-step protocol is suggested and subsequently evaluated with regard to its effectiveness for detecting markers of viral infections.
