Proportional Integral Control

Proportional integral control is a feedback control method that adjusts a system’s input to reduce the difference between a desired setpoint and the measured output. It combines proportional action, which responds immediately to the current error, with integral action, which accumulates error over time and increases the corrective signal until persistent offset is minimized. In engineering, proportional integral controllers regulate temperature, pressure, flow, speed, and position in industrial and laboratory systems. Proper tuning balances rapid response with stability, while limiting integral buildup can reduce overshoot and improve performance when actuators reach their operating limits.

Sample Proportion and Population Proportion

2023

Collecting samples or responses from an entire population takes significant time and effort, so a researcher collects responses from only a sample of that population. Suppose a study needs to collect information about a specific mobile application. After sample collection, the researcher analyzes the data and discovers that most individuals in the sample use that specific mobile application. The sample proportion measures the number of individuals in a sample who either use or don't use the...

Testing a Claim about Population Proportion

2023

A complete procedure for testing a claim about a population proportion is provided here. There are two methods of testing a claim about a population proportion: (1) Using the sample proportion from the data where a binomial distribution is approximated to the normal distribution and (2) Using the binomial probabilities calculated from the data. The first method uses normal distribution as an approximation to the binomial distribution. The requirements are as follows: sample size is large...

A fully automated protocol for rodent operant conditioning is proposed. The protocol relies on precise temporal control of behavioral events to investigate the extent to which this control influences neural activity underlying sensorimotor integration and cognitive control experiments.

An Integrated Workflow of Identification and Quantification on FDR Control-Based Untargeted Metabolome

We constructed an untargeted metabolomic workflow that integrated XY-Meta and metaX together. In this protocol, we displayed how to use XY-Meta to generate a decoy spectral library from open access spectra reference, and then performed FDR control and used the metaX to quantitate the metabolites after identifying the metabolomics spectra.
