Traffic Accident Analysis

Traffic accident analysis is the systematic examination of roadway crashes to determine how events unfolded, why they occurred, and how injuries or damage resulted. Investigators integrate scene measurements, vehicle deformation, road conditions, witness accounts, and physical evidence with principles of vehicle dynamics, momentum, energy transfer, and braking to reconstruct pre-impact and impact motion. In engineering, this analysis supports crash reconstruction, fault assessment, roadway and vehicle safety evaluation, and the development of countermeasures such as improved intersection design, warning systems, and restraint technologies. Its findings help identify preventable risk factors and guide evidence-based improvements in transportation safety.

Introduction to Membrane Traffic

2023

The ER, Golgi apparatus, endosomes, and lysosomes work in tandem to modify, sort, and package proteins and lipids. An integrated membrane trafficking network facilitates the back and forth shuttling of molecules within different organelles in the same cell or across the cell membrane. The transport of soluble and membrane proteins is mediated by transport vesicles that collect cargo from one cellular compartment and deliver it to another by fusing with the target organelle membrane. The Rab...

We present experiments in which real nuclear fuel, cladding, and containment materials are laser heated to temperatures beyond 3,000 K while their behavior is studied by radiance spectroscopy and thermal analysis. These experiments simulate, on a laboratory scale, the formation of a lava-phase following a nuclear reactor core meltdown.

This article describes a novel protocol and reagent set designed for sensitive measurement of neurotoxic effects of compounds and treatments on co-cultures of neurons and astrocytes using high content analysis. Results demonstrate that high content analysis represents an exciting novel technology for neurotoxicity assessment.

Automated Analysis of Intracellular Phenotypes of Salmonella Using ImageJ

2022

Salmonella invades and replicates inside intestinal epithelial cells both in Salmonella-specific vacuoles and free in the cytosol (hyper-replication). A high-throughput fluorescence microscopy-based protocol is described here to quantify the intracellular phenotypes of Salmonella by two complementary image analyses through ImageJ, reaching single-cell resolution and scoring.
