Yeps Light Medium

YEPS Light Medium is a nutrient-rich culture medium used to grow and maintain yeast and other fungi under controlled laboratory conditions, making it useful for genetic research. Its yeast extract and peptone provide vitamins, amino acids, nitrogen, and other growth factors, while the fermentable carbon source supplies energy for metabolism and biomass production. By supporting reproducible cell growth, the medium enables researchers to expand strains, prepare cultures for genetic manipulation, and assess phenotypes linked to mutations or introduced genes. YEPS Light Medium is therefore an important foundation for microbial genetics, including strain maintenance, transformation workflows, and experiments that require healthy, actively growing fungal cells.

2026

Optimizing growth media enhances microbial proliferation and maximizes product yield. Statistical experimental design methodologies provide structured and reproducible approaches, offering progressively higher levels of robustness and efficiency. The One-Factor-at-a-Time (OFAT) MethodThe One-Factor-at-a-Time (OFAT) method involves adjusting a single variable while keeping all others constant. However, it cannot detect interactions between variables, often leading to suboptimal outcomes when...

A New Chromogenic Medium for Rapid Detection of Vibrio Species

Source: Yeung, M., et al. Development of a More Sensitive and Specific Chromogenic Agar Medium for the Detection of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Other Vibrio Species. J. Vis. Exp. (2016)This video demonstrates a culture-based method for identifying Vibrio species, highlighting chromogenic agar as a more accurate alternative to the commonly used thiosulfate-citrate-bile salts-sucrose or TCBS agar. Chromogenic agar provides superior differentiation of Vibrio strains by detecting species-specific...
