Entomopathogenic Bacteria Testing

Entomopathogenic bacteria testing evaluates bacterial strains that infect and kill insects, helping characterize microbial virulence and host susceptibility. In controlled bioassays, researchers expose insects to defined bacterial doses and monitor infection progression, survival, and disease symptoms, while examining mechanisms such as toxin production, gut invasion, and systemic immune responses. These tests support the identification of biologically active strains and clarify how bacterial pathogens overcome insect defenses. In immunology and infection research, the approach provides a tractable model for studying host–pathogen interactions and can inform the development of microbial biocontrol agents that reduce reliance on chemical insecticides.

Entomopathogenic nematodes live in symbiosis with bacteria and together they successfully infect insects by undermining their innate immune system. To promote research on the genetic basis of nematode infection, methods for maintaining and genetically manipulating entomopathogenic nematodes are described.

Anxiety Testing

2023

Anxiety is a commonly observed behavioral disorder that stems from fear. It is described as increased restlessness, or unpleasant feelings of fear over anticipated events. Experimenters often use rodent models to better understand anxiety disorders in humans. They use different paradigms, like exposing rodents to bright spaces or loud sounds, which are known to induce fear. These tests combined with other interventions such as surgery or drug-administration may assist researchers in pinpointing...
