Gold Microcarriers

Gold microcarriers are microscopic gold particles used to transport biological materials into cells or tissues, making them valuable tools for studying immune responses and infectious disease. In particle-mediated delivery, DNA, proteins, or other biomolecules adhere to the gold surface, and the coated particles are accelerated into target tissue, where cellular uptake enables the cargo to act. This approach supports experimental vaccine development, antigen delivery, and gene-transfer studies in immunology and infection research. Because gold provides a stable, relatively inert carrier, microcarriers can improve the controlled delivery of immune-stimulating materials and help investigators evaluate host responses to pathogens and candidate interventions.
