Synthetic Nc Peptide

Synthetic Nc peptides are chemically produced fragments of Neospora caninum proteins that represent antigenic regions for studying host-pathogen interactions. Their defined amino acid sequences can bind antibodies in infected serum or interact with antigen-presenting pathways, allowing researchers to measure immune recognition and identify epitopes without handling the whole parasite. These peptides support serological assay development, epitope mapping, immune-response characterization, and evaluation of candidate diagnostic or vaccine targets. Because they provide standardized, reproducible antigens, synthetic Nc peptides help distinguish molecular determinants of infection and clarify how adaptive immunity recognizes N. caninum.

This video presents synthetic biology and its role in bioengineering. Synthetic biology refers to the methods used to genetically modify organisms in order to make them capable of producing large quantities of a product. This product could be a protein that the cell already makes or a new protein that has been encoded in a newly-inserted DNA sequence. Here, we discuss how an organism's genetic material is modified using transformation or transfection. Then, the process is shown in the...

2014

Biochemical assays with recombinant human MHC II molecules can provide rapid, quantitative insights into immunogenic epitope identification, deletion, or design. Here, a peptide-MHC II binding assay scaled to 384-well plates is described. This cost effective format should prove useful in the fields of protein deimmunization and vaccine design and development.
