Rna Efficacy Assay

An RNA efficacy assay is an experimental method for determining whether an RNA molecule produces its intended biological effect, making it useful for evaluating RNA-based interventions in immunology and infection research. The assay typically introduces a defined RNA, such as messenger RNA or silencing RNA, into relevant cells or biological systems and measures a functional readout, including target-gene expression, protein production, or a pathogen-associated response. By comparing treated and control conditions, researchers can assess potency, specificity, and the influence of delivery or experimental conditions. These measurements support the development of vaccines, antiviral strategies, immune modulators, and other RNA therapeutics.

Luciferase Assay to Study Efficacy of Antiparasitic Chemicals Against Parasites

2025

The video demonstrates the luciferase assay used to determine the efficacy of an antiparasitic chemical inhibitor against the intracellular pathogen Toxoplasma gondii. The study involves luciferase-expressing parasites invading the host cells to replicate and survive. The chemical inhibitor binds with the cysteine proteases of the parasite and inhibits replication. The luciferase activity detected is proportional to the fold changes in parasite growth, determining the drug's efficacy against...

An Assay to Evaluate Drug Efficacy against a Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection Model

2025

This video demonstrates an assay to evaluate the efficacy of drugs against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. An in vitro infection model containing Mtb/macrophage aggregates is generated that mimics in vivo infection. Upon introducing suitable antibiotics, their efficacy is tested via resuzarin assay to monitor the survival of bacteria with increasing drug concentrations.

Rapid Point-of-Care Assay of Enoxaparin Anticoagulant Efficacy in Whole Blood

2012

Demonstration of a rapid quantitative assay of the inhibition of blood coagulation by the low-molecular-weight-heparin, enoxaparin. The contribution of enoxaparin is assessed by removing its influence through digestion with heparinase. A fuller description of the assay is detailed in our published paper.1 The assay still requires clinical confirmation.

RNA-Protein Pull-Down Assay to Isolate RNA-Binding Proteins via Affinity Extraction

2025

This video demonstrates an in vitro RNA pull-down assay to identify RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), which interact with the adenylate-uridylate-rich element (ARE) sequences in mRNA. The target RBPs from a cell lysate are mixed with an RNA probe to form RNA-protein complexes. The complexes are isolated via affinity purification utilizing the affinity of the desthiobiotin label of the RNA probe to a streptavidin-labeled magnetic bead.
