Endoscopic Approach

An endoscopic approach is a minimally invasive medical technique that uses an endoscope to view, diagnose, or treat internal structures without a large surgical incision. The instrument, which may be flexible or rigid, carries a camera and light through a natural body opening or a small access point, while specialized channels can deliver instruments for biopsy, tissue removal, or therapy. In medicine, endoscopy supports examination of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive systems, often reducing tissue trauma, recovery time, and hospital stay compared with open surgery. It also provides direct visual evidence that can guide clinical decisions and targeted interventions.

2025

Here, we present a protocol to resect benign infratemporal fossa tumors via an endoscopic-assisted transoral lateral molar approach with low-temperature plasma ablation and intraoperative mandibular nerve monitoring. This minimally invasive technique prioritizes anatomical preservation, functional recovery, and avoidance of external scarring, demonstrating feasibility for well-demarcated lesions ≤4 cm in diameter.
