Targeted Therapy Prediction

Targeted therapy prediction is the use of patient-specific biological and clinical information to estimate which molecularly directed treatment is most likely to be effective. It combines factors such as genomic alterations, protein expression, disease characteristics, and prior treatment response with computational or statistical models to associate biomarkers with therapeutic sensitivity or resistance. In medicine, this approach supports precision treatment selection, helps identify patients who may benefit from a targeted drug, and can reduce exposure to ineffective therapies. It also informs clinical trial design and ongoing research into treatment resistance, improving the development of individualized care strategies.

2021

The targeted cancer therapies, also known as “molecular targeted therapies,” take advantage of the molecular and genetic differences between the cancer cells and the normal cells. It needs a thorough understanding of the cancer cells to develop drugs that can target specific molecular aspects that drive the growth, progression, and spread of cancer cells without affecting the growth and survival of other normal cells in the body. There are several types of targeted therapies against specific...
