Fitc-labeled Igg

FITC-labeled IgG is an immunoglobulin G antibody chemically conjugated to fluorescein isothiocyanate, a fluorescent dye that enables target detection by light microscopy or flow cytometry. The IgG portion binds a specific antigen directly or recognizes a primary antibody, while FITC absorbs blue or ultraviolet light and emits green fluorescence, revealing the antigen’s location. In neuroscience, FITC-labeled IgG supports immunofluorescence studies of neuronal proteins, glial markers, synaptic components, and tissue organization. These applications help researchers map molecular distributions, compare cellular states, and visualize changes associated with development, injury, or neurological disease.

Studying the Permeation of FITC and FITC-Ferritin through an In Vitro Blood-Brain Barrier Model

2025

This video demonstrates a method to study permeation through an in vitro blood-brain barrier (BBB) model using astrocytes and endothelial cells on a membrane insert, with free FITC and FITC-loaded ferritin. FITC-ferritin bound to receptors on endothelial cells and crossed the membrane barrier to the lower chamber while free FITC showed restricted permeation and remained in the upper chamber.

FITC-Dextran Feeding: A Method to Quantify Intestinal Permeability in C. elegans

Transcytosis of IgG

2023

Transcytosis is the process in which molecules are internalized by endocytosis, transported across the cell, and released through exocytosis from the opposite end of the cell. Molecules such as insulin, immunoglobulins, and certain nutrients are transferred through the recycling endosomes by recycling and transcytosis. IgG molecules from a mother undergo transcytosis starting around 13 weeks of gestation. The amount of IgG transferred and entering the fetal blood circulation increases with...

Synthesis of human monoclonal antibodies is the first step in studies aimed at unraveling the pathophysiological mechanisms of auto-antibody-mediated immune responses. We have developed a protocol to generate recombinant human immunoglobulin G (IgG) monoclonal antibodies from blood sorted B cells, including B-cell isolation, antibody cloning and in vitro synthesis.
